Principal’s Corner | Dec. 12

Dear Peacham friends and families,
Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but some children are still coming to school without snowpants! We believe that all students will go out to recess unless it is pouring rain or below zero degrees Fahrenheit. PES students are tough, but without snowpants, mittens, and hats, recess is just not fun at all. Please help us all by helping your child take responsibility for themselves and come equipped for the outdoors.

We are pleased to announce that PES has received a Vermont Farm to School Grant to support our ongoing work promoting local connections with locally sourced foods. Combined with our Vermont Rural Partnership grant, we hope to install a salad bar in our cafeteria to increase student healthy food choices. Thanks go to Rose Sheehan for drafting the FTS grant application, and to Hanna Galinat for building a partnership with GreenFire Farm’s Michael Low, who will work with our school to create a farm-school curriculum this spring. Think S.T.E.M. with Roots.
2015-2016 Budget planning has begun. I need input from parents and other interested community members to make sure that PES instructional programming is fulfilling our Mission. The next PTF meeting is Tuesday, Jan. 6th at 6:30pm. Please plan to stay longer for Dessert with the Principal at 7:00pm the same evening to share your feedback on where we are and where we want to go to provide our students with a responsible, yet still excellent, education here at Peacham Elementary School.

Cheers to all,
Judy Ross
